Using abortion pills NOT from Women on Web or Women Help Women

If you have obtained abortion pills from sources other than Women on Web or Women Help Women, you will need to take extra precautions. This is because you have probably not been given complete information on how to use them and what to expect, and you have probably not been asked questions to ensure whether the pills are safe for you to use.

 

 

 

The first thing you should do is identify what type of pills you have. The most commonly used abortion pills are Mifepristone and Misoprostol and these are usually supplied in a combipack like the ones shown below.

Sometimes, Misoprostol is supplied on its own. This is because Misoprostol is also widely used for the treatment of stomach ulcers and is therefore more easily accessible than combipacks. Misoprostol usually comes in 10-pill blister strips like the one below.

 

 

If you use expired medicine, it may not work properly and the pregnancy could continue. Check whether the medication supplied to you has an expiry date. If you can only see a date of manufacture, the expiry date is usually two years from manufacture.
